I wonder

I wonder
   how do people do it,
going on,
           while the foundations
                                    collapse
                           and ditches overflow
                                   everything sinks
                                                        it all.
How do they
     because I keep
          scratching the layers
                          and wasting my nails
                                                   and teeth
                         my keeping
                              and questioning
                        this going on
                that drowns
                         in not foundations.
